Dear Bee, September 17. Glorious weather prevailed for the golf tournaments and competitions, held respectively on Friday and Saturday. In the former tournament on the Friday, played for a trophy presented by the captain of the Ladies’ Club (Mrs Morgan), Mrs O’Meara, for the A division, won- the prize, Miss L. Tucker winning the B division prize. In the competitions on Saturday, Miss de Latour won the driving competition, Miss Adams and Mrs Barlow being equal for second place. Mrs Click Burke was the successful competitor for the approaching competition, while Miss Adams came first in the putting. Messrs L. Brown and F. rTaill acted as judges throughout. The men’s fifth and last medal handicap competition was won by Mr C. A. J. Fenwick, Mr G. Willock coming second on the list. During the afternoon Mrs Morgan, captain of the Ladies’ Clubs preseated Miss Adams, who is shortly le*v

ing Gisborne, with a handsome rose bowl, as a small token of appreciation of Miss Adams’ long service as secretary, and in a neat speech expressed the good wishes of the golf members for Miss Adams’ future welfare. On Friday evening last Misa E. Gray gave a small dance at her father's residence at Waiohika, when a most enjoyable evening was spent, the guests numbering about thirty. On Tuesday last a very enjoyable evening for juveniles was given by Mrs W. L. Rees, "Bungalow,” in honour of her granddaughters, Misses P. and J. (Napier), who are at present staying with her. The entertainment took the form of a book title evening, Miss P. Lusk gaining first prize for the greatest number of successful guesses. PERSONAL. On Saturday last Mr Hine (Gisborne) left for a short visit to Auckland. Amongst the passengers on Sunday for Napier were Mr Dewing, Colonel Porter, Miss Robinson, and Mrs Stephenson. Mrs Steplienson is spending a few days with Miss Seale, Napier. Mr and Mrs Walter Barker, the Misses Barker (2), and Messrs Barker (3) left Gisborne on Sunday last by the Mdnowai for Sydney, where they intend staying for a month. Mrs A. F. Kennedy returned from Auckland on Sunday last. Mr Anderson (Gisborne) left for Napier on Wednesday last, Mr A. F. Kennedy also visiting Napier. Mr and Mrs F. T. Morgan left on Wednesday for a two months’ holiday in Dunedin and the Southern Lakes. The Misses Barker (2) left for the South last Wednesday. ELSA.
