NAPIER.

Dear Bee, September 10. Captain Fyler and the officers of H.M.s. Encounter were entertained at a BALL IN THE GARRISON HALL LAST TUESDAY. The function, which was organised and given by the ladies of Hawke’s Bay, was the most fashionable assemblage of the kind held in the district for some years. The hall was beautifully decorated wit., greenery and lovely flowers, and seating accommodation was provided in a large marquee erected outside the hall. Everything possible was done for the enjoyment of the guests, and credit is due to Messrs. H. E.. Troutbeck and F. B. Logan, who acted as secretaries.
