PAPAROA.

Dear Bee, July 25. On Friday, July 10, a plain and fancy dress ball was given at the Pahi Hall by Mrs. and the Misses Osborne, to the pupils who have been attending their dancing classes. The juveniles had the first twelve dances without any grownups, and enjoyed themselves immensely. The gem of the evening was the cachuca, danced by six tiny tots and six bigger girls, all in Spanish costumes. In the little girls’ set there were Miss F. Swallow, Misses F., M., K., 1., and M. Chadwick, who all looked very pretty, and did great credit to their teachers. The elder girls were Misses A. Smith, G. Taylor, J. Paige, E. and D. Swallow, and I. Osborne. A good number of spectators were present, and all enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The supper was excellent, and the table looked extremely pretty, decorated in red and white only. Dancing was kept up till past midnight. The following were amongst those in fancy costume; Miss Upton, Queen of the Earth; Miss Jackman, Folly; Miss A. Jackman. Cinderella (which was the most original costume); Miss Wallis, Red Cross Nurse; Miss Edie Milne, Lily of the Valley; Miss E. Milne, Gipsy; Misses S. and L. Milne, Japanese Ladies; Miss Osborne, Powder and Patches; Miss Ivy Osborne, Spanish Girl; Miss Marjory Snelling, Fairy; Master G. McMurdo, Chinaman; Monte McMurdo, Black and White; Eric Jockman, Footballer. Many others were in evening dress. The hall was prettily decorated. The whole affair was well nuunaged, and will be a red letter day in the mamory o' the children.
