THE FLEET MEETING.

The following weights have been declared by Mi R. Wynyard for events to be run at the Fleet Meeting, which is fixed to take place at Ellerslie on August 12:— WELCOME HURDLE RACE. One mile and a-half.

WELLINGTON WINTER MEETING

W ELL IN G TO N, Wed nesda y. Fine weather was experienced to-day for the second day of the Wellington Racing Club’s winter meeting. There was a large attendance, including his Excellency the Governor. The sum og £12,983 was passed through the totalisator, against £18,388 for the corresponding day last year. The following are the results of the racing:— Glasgow Handicap.- Oxton, 9.12. 1; Duart, 9.0, 2; Yosami, 9.0. 3. All started. Won easily by three lengths. Time, 1.8 4-5. Karori Hack Handicap of lOOsovs, six furlongs.—Dr. Shimose, 9.0. 1; Vasa, 10.4, 2; North Pole, 9.12, 3. Scratched: Sandstream. A good race. Won easily by a neck. Time, 1.24. Hack Hurdle, of £lOO, 1A miles.—Full Cry, 9.11, 1; Ghoorka, 10.5, 2; Jolly Roger, 9.3. All started. A good race. Won easily by two lengths. Time. 3.0. Wellington Steeplechase Handicap of 500 soys, about three miles and a-quarter.—Sir W. Russell’s ch m Nadador, aged, by El Draque—Noyade, 10.7 (J. Hall), 1; Mr. C. Thede’s b g Loch Fyne, aged, 11.7 (A. Julian). 2; Mr. J. Ore’s b g Tilson, aged, 10.7 (Pritchard), 3. Also started: Pierre. 9.13 (M. Deeble); BuUworth, 9.7 (F. Whitehouse). Tilson and Pierre made the running past the stand the first time, with Bullworth next. The latter .dropped .back to last at the end of the roupd. Tilson and Pierre ran together to the stone wall the second time

round, where the latter fell. Nadador and Loch Fyne drew level with Tilson passing the stand the last time, and at the back of the course Nadador drew out, and, jumping the remaining obstacles faultlessly, won by six lengths. Loch Fyne beat Tilson by two lengths for second place, and Bullworth also finished. Time, 7.36. Waterloo Handicap of 250sovs. seven furlongs.—Mr. C. L. Sagod’s ch c California, 3yrs, by San Fran—Dazzle, 9.13 (W. Whittaker), 1; Hon. J. D. Ormond’s b c Dawn, 3yrs, 10.10 (F. D. Jones), 2; Mr. j. Foreman’s blk c Maharanui. 6yrs, 9.2 (C. Cochrane), 3. Also started: Seaman, 10.9; Paragon, 9.8; Swimming Belt, 9.4; Tupono, 9.4; Rangipapa, 9.3; Merrie Zealand, 9.3; Chief Lochiel, 9.2; Kurawaka, 9.0; Silken Rein, 9.0. Rangipapa and Dawn were in front when the field settled down, and at half-way this pair was clear of Swimming Belt and Seaman. Rangipapa dropped out before reaching the straight. Dawn led at the distance, where California came out of the ruck, and catching Dawn in the last few strides, won by a nose, with Maharanui close up. Time, 1.37

Jumpers’ Flat Handicap of 130sovs, one mile and a-half.—Mr. D. Stewart’s b g Scotty, aged, by St. Leger—Janet, 10.7 (A. Julian) 1; Mr. J. O’Meara’s b g Letherin, aged, 10.10 (C. O’Neill), 2; Mr. 11. Fryer’s br m Immolation, aged, 9.12 (W. Kirk), 3. Also started: Exmoor, 10.0; Aorangi, 10.0; Star Rose, 9.10; Sen-Sim, 9.9; Mussel, 9.9. •Exmoor led for six furlongs, where Aorangi took charge, Scotty lying third. The latter ran through at the turn and led to the straight, winning easily by six lengths. Time, 2.54 4-5.

Thorndon Hack Handicap of lOOsovs, five furlongs.—Mrs. T. Cotton’s b g Silk Web, syrs, by Soult—Cobweb, 10.5 (V. Cqtton), 1; Mr. 11. W. Clay’s rn g Royal Maid. 3yrs, 9.3 (A. Watson), 2; Mr. I’. Macara’s Lochiela, 4yrs, 9.12 (A. Olliver), 3. Also started: Llanweru, 9.7; Cavatina, 9.6; Glen, 9.0. Silk Web and Glen were smartest on their legs. At the end of two furlongs Silk Web drew out and was not afterwards headed, winning comfortably by two lengths. Time, 1.6 2-5. WELLINGTON, Saturday. The Wellington Winter Meeting wos concluded to-day in favourable weatner. The attendance was large, and the sum of £15,964 passed through the totalisator, making £36,705 for the meeting, against £52,031 last year. The club received £1236 10/ in fees from bookmakers. Full Cry was disqualified during the pleasure of the stewards, for inconsistent running. The inquiry was further adjourned until Friday next, when 4ha persons concerned are to appear before tue stewards. July Steeplechase of 300sovs. Two miles and a-half. — Mr C. Thede’s Loch Fyne 11.10 (A. Julian), 1; Mr J. Orr’s Tilson, 10.8 (T. Pritchard), 2; Mr 11. Fryer’s Lingerer, 9.7 (Cochrane), 3. Also started: Le Beau 10.2, Bull worth 9.7, Valima 9.7, St. Amelia 9.7. Valima and Bull worth were prominent in the first round, Le Beau and Loch Fyne lying last. St. Amedia stopped at the brush fence at the back of the course. With one round completed, BullwoiMi and Valima were six lengths clear of Lingerer and Tilson, Le Beau and Loch Fyne being the same distance away. Tilson went to the front after the double in front of the stand was negotiated. Loch Fyne ran up along (he back, and had charge half-a-mile from home, where Tilson and Lingerer joined in. They cleared the last obstacle almost abreast, and after a most interesting finish Loch Fyne won by a length, Lingerer being two lengths away. Time 5.58 Winter Oats Handicap of 250sovs. One mile. — Mr C. L. Lagor’s California, 10.11 (W. Whittaker), 1; Mr J. Foreman’s Maliaranui,* 9.6 (C. Cochrane), 2; Mr Davies' Landwern, 9.2 (G. Price), 3. Also started: Sir Frisco 10.13, Wailethe 10.0, Comeuum 9.3, Merrie Zealand 9.0, Chief Lochiel 9.0, Kurawaka 9.0, Mussel 9.0. Chief Lochiel, Mussel, and Kurawaka were allowed to lead for five furlongs, where Landwern and California moved up. They all came through entering the straight. Landwern was in front at the distance, where California challenged, and, drawing away, won by two lengths from Maharanui. who headed Landwern in the last hundred yards. Merrie Zealand was fourth and Wailethe last. Time 1.50.

Final Hurdle Handicap of SOOsovs. One mile and three-quarters. — Mr J. O Mear’s Letherin, 10.0 (C. O’Neill), 1; Mr R. W. Paterson’s Snip, 9.4, 2: Mr I). Stewart’s Scotty, 10.9, 3. Also started: Compass 10.7, Sen-Sim 10.0, Ability 10.0, Exmoor 9.13, Defeat 9.10. Sen-Sim turned round at the start and took no part in the race. Compass fell at the second fence and brought down Defeat. Passing the stand Ability was showing the way to Exmoor and Snip. Exmoor fell at the back of the course when running prominently. This left Letherin in charge. Under pressure, Scotty got close up at the turn, but died away in the straight. Letherin won by two lengths from Snip, Scotty being a fair third. Time 3.29. Kia Ora Hack Handicap of lOOsovs. Six furlongs. — Mrs T. Cotton’s Silk Web, 10.13 (T. Cotton); Mr 11. W. Clay’s Royal Maid, 9.6, 2; Mr W. Davies’ Yosami. 9.9. 3. Also started: Flint Gun 9.0, Glentui 9.0, Glen 9.0. At the end of a furlong Silk Web had charge. He led into the straight and won by two lengths from Royal Maid, Yosami being a fair third. Time 1.24.
