Judge Tate, of Georgia, at one timo occupied a room adjoining that of J. >S. Williams in a local hotel. One night Representative Williams was dressing to go to a dinner; he was late, he was in a hurry, and, naturally, everything went wrong. His chief trouble was with his collar and tie. Finally he conquered their obstinacy, slipped on his dress coat and waistcoat, and stepping into Judge Tate’s room, inquired: “Well, Judge, how do 1 look?”
Judge Tate surveyed his friend with judicial gravity for a full minut. Then Tie said:
“ I have no fault to find, Williams, but I do think you could improve your appearance by putting on your trousers.”
