The Nation’s Income.
NEARLY £1,000,000 TO THE BAD AT PRESENT. Unless there is a substantial change for the better in the next two months, the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s bal-ance-sheet will (says the latest London “Express”) make a poor showing at the end of the financial year. According to the figures published in the “London Gazette,” there has been a falling-off in the national revenue so far, as compared with the same period last year, of £1,587,384. As the Chancellor's estimated reduction in revenue for the whole year was only £624,000, he is now nearly £1,000.000 to the bad. <3> <t> <s>
