Dear Bee, February 28. One of the most successful social gatherings ever held at Omapere, took place on the 21st instant, when the Messrs Bryers Bros, opened their new hall with a PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS BALL. The hall was deeorated very prettily ■with nikau, fems, flags and lanterns. Supper was laid on the stage, anil was a sumptions one. Messis M. and W. Bryers and Mr Bracey acted as M.C.’s in their well-known efficient manner, while the music was contributed by several ladies and gentlemen. Fancy dresses were worn by Miss F. Bryers—Nurse; Miss Cheriton—Pnek; Miss M. Yarborough—French waiting maid; Miss A. Newton—Shamrock; Mies M. Morrell— Folly; Miss Smith—Britannia; Miss N. Bryers—Spanish lady; Miss A. Bryers - —Grecian lady; Mr L. Cheriton—Clown; Mr V. Mason—Lord Chesterfield. In evening dress were Mrs Dive, who wore black voile skirt, white silk blouse; Mrs Bryers, black skirt, heliotrope silk blouse; Mrs Burry, cream silk; Mrs Fraser, cream silk voile; Mrs Watson, black skirt, blue silk blouse; Mrs Parsons, white; Mrs Newton, black skirt, eream blouse; Mrs Bracev. tussore silk; Mrs Howe, black skirt, white silk blouse; Mrs Faithful, senr-navy voile, relieved

with white; Mrs -Hodson, black skirt, light silk blouse; Miss Yarborough, deep cream silk; Miss B. Bryers, cream voile; Miss R. Tillsy-creain silk; Miss Rowe, cream mousseline relieved with pale green; Mrs Martin.grey costume; Miss A. Rowe, pale green muslin; Miss B. Rowe, freain voile; Miss L.
