The death is announced of Sir James Knowles, K.C.V.0., founder, proprietor and editor of the “Nineteenth Century,” in his 77th year. [Sir James Knowles, besides having founded one of the world’s most important, authoritative and literary reviews, was an architect of considerable merit, and in this capacity planned a considerable number of public and private buildings in London and elsewhere. He was also editor of the “Contemporary Review” from 1870 to 1877.]
