THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND.
The bill introduced into the House of Commons by Mr. C. Macarthur, providing for the appointment of Commissioners to deal with ecclesiastical disorders, was talked out. Mr. J. J. Talbot (Conservative member for Oxford University) emphasised the statement that since the Royal Commission had been appointed, certain practices had been dropped in many places. He declared with regard to Mr. C. F. Masterman’s amendment in favour of disestablishment, that this was not within half-a-century of practical politics.
