AUCKLAND PROVINCE. ' Mrs. Sainsbury, who lias been to Auckland and Rotorua is back in Gisborne. Mrs. Pitt, Auckland, is staying with Mrs. Bennett, in Gisborne. The Rev. W. E. Gillam, of St. Matthew’s Church, went South last week on A visit. Mr. M. Sievewright (Gisborne) has returned from Dunedin and Christchurcli. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. De Latour and Miss De laitour have returned from a driving tour to Morere and Wairoa. Mr. W. A. Barton, S.M., and Mrs. Barton have returned to Gisborne from a trip to Lake Wakatipu. Mr. and Miss Loisel (East Coast, Gisborne) have returned from a trip to England. Dr. Morrison, of Gisborne, is shortly taking a trip to the Old Country. During his absence Dr. Gerard .Smith, late of London, will act as his locum-tenens. Mr. and Mrs. Mann (Gisborne) spent the Christmas holidays at the Southern Lakes. Mr. Mann has returned, and Mrs. Mann is remaining with friends in Invercargill. The Rev. Mark Sutton, of St. Mary’s Church, Auckland, has accepted an appointment as organising secretary of the Melanesian Mission in Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and West Australia. The rev. gentleman will probably enter on his new sphere of labour in April next. Mr and Mrs W. Ware and Miss Ware, Remuera, left Auckland on Monday for Wellington, where they join the s.s. Taparoa for Monte Video. Captain and Mrs. Hood, New Plymouth, are on a visit to Auckland. Mr. H. 8. Fitzherbert, S.M., New Plymouth, who has been on a visit to Rotorua aud Auckland, has now returned. Mr. B. Chaney is back in New Plymouth after his pleasant trip to Wellington and Nelson. Mr. Eric Bayley has returned to New Plymouth after attending the Dental Conference in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Burgess, who have been on a visit to Wellington! have returned to New Plymouth.

Tringham returned from Sydney by the Marama. Mr and Mrs Fitchett have been spending the holidays at Paraparamu. Mr and Mrs Lee and family (the Hutt) are staying at Rona Bay. Mr and Mrs Barraud are spending a few weeks at Muritai. Dr. and Mrs Donne and Miss Rogers (Melbourne) have gone to Rotorua. Mr and Mrs Izard (Wanganui) are making a short stay in Wellington. Mr Justice Johnston (Melbourne) has been on a short visit here. Mrs and Miss Morison are staying at Waikanae. Mr T. Allison, of Wanganui, has been spending some weeks in Rotorua. Miss Stanford is back in Wanganui from her visit to New Plymouth. Mrs James Watt, of Wanganui, has left for a visit to Sydney and Melbourne. Mr A. Dr, and Mrs Adams, who have been staying with Mrs Barton at Featherston, have returned to town. The Misses Simpson, who have been camping at D’Urville Island, have returned to town. Miss Mary Jones has left for the south and will stay with friends at Sumner and Dunedin. Mrs O. Lewis, of Fbrdell, Wanganui, is spending some weeks in Wellington with friends. Mr and Mrs George Humphreys, of Wanganui, left last week for Palmerston North, where they intend to reside. Mr and Mrs Hogg, of Wanganui, have returned from their holiday in New Plymouth. Mr and Mrs G. Marshall, of Wanganui, are the guests of Mr and Mrs Russell, of Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Armstrong and family, Gisborne, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Armstrong, Palmerston. Mrs. Homan, Palmerston, leaves next month on a trip to England. Her son will accompany her. Dr. Wilson and Mr Houstan, of Wanganui, have returned from their holiday in the South Island. Miss Cowper, “Kukuta,” Wanganui, leaves this week on a visit to her brother, Mr R. Cowper, in Melbourne. Mr and Mrs Oscar Von Wilier (Sydney) are travelling through New Zealand. Cook), to meet Admiral Sir Wilmot and Lady Fawkes. Mrs and Miss Levin (England), who have been visiting relations in Palmerston, are now in Wellington, where they will make a short stay. Mr Hislop (the Mayor), who left for the south with Mr Keir Hardie, has gone to Dunedin to see his brother, who is seriously ill.
