CAMBRIDGE.

Dear Bee, Dec. 14th. THE ROSE SHOW AND SALE OF WORK, in connection with St. Andrew’s Church concluded on Saturday night, the takings amounting to £l3O, the same as ■last year, which was very satisfactory, cosSidering that on Saturday the weather was very unfavourable. Part of the money is to be used in installing the gas in the church, and 1 hear they are losing no time over the matter as they hope to have it in by next Sunday. At the Rose Show the opportunity was taken to make A PRESENTATION TO MISS ELLA SKEET, who is leaving to take up her residence in Wanganui. The presentation took the form of a gold muff chain, subscribed Tor by the members of the church in •which she has been an ardent worker, and in which she will be greatly missed. Archdeacon Willis made the presentation, and Mr. Brooks returned thanks on behalf of Miss Skeet. On Monday evening Mrs. James Hally gave a large MUSICAL EVENING as a farewell to Miss Skeet, and also to entertain those who had assisted in the tea tent at the Rose Show. Mrs. Hally recently purchased a full-sized grand piano, which we had the pleasure of hearing for the first time. Mr. McDermott played some charming pieces, which fully brought out the richness and fulness of its tone. Songs were contributed by Mrs. A. Gibbons, Miss J. Brooks, Miss Clark, Miss E. Dickenson, Messrs. A. Stone and L. Isherwood. Tire flowers were very artistically arranged, and consisted chiefly of lovely irises, sweet peas, etc. Mrs. Hally received her guests in an old rose-coloured gown trimmed with cream lace; Mrs. A. GibTarns, white silk blouse, cream serge skirt trimmed with cream insertion; Mrs. C. Stewart (Auckland), white silk chiffon taffeta trimmed with string-coloured lace; Mrs Dickenson, black canvas voile gown trimmed with black applique; Miss Dickenson, white silk blouse nnd blaek skirt; Miss E. Dickenson, mauve and white cotton voile; Mrs. McDermott, pale blue silk blouse and black skirt; Mrs. A. Stone, white silk blouse and black skirt; Miss Gwynneth, black silk gown with bretelles of cream silk Maltese lace; Miss Edminston, white silk blouse and blaek skirt; Miss Keesing, white silk blouse and old-rose coloured skirt; Miss Millar, white muslin frock, hair tied with white ribbon; Miss Willis, white muslin trimmed with white Valenciennes lace and insertion; Miss K. Willis, white muslin ; Miss Brooks, white silk frock; Miss J. Brooks, pale blue silk white roses on corsage and in her coiffure; Miss Clark, pale pink frock trimmed with cream lace; Mrs. Isherwoad, 'vlack voile ieostume; Miss E. Skeet, pale green with silk blouse and blaek silk skirt; Miss E. Hill, white muslin frock. Mrs. G. A. Clark gave AN AFTERNOON TEA on Tuesday', as a farewell to Miss Skeet. The drawing-room was decorated with a profusion of lovely flowers, principally sweet peas, gaillardias and ea'opsus. After we had all partaken of afternoon tea, an adjournment was made to the croquet lawn, where several games were played. Mrs. Clark received her guests in black silk, and white lace cap with heliotrope ribbons; Miss Clarke was wearing white embroidered muslin; Mrs. A. Gane, white muslin; Miss Skeet, w’hite silk blouse, pale grey skirt and gem hat ; Mrs. McC'ullagh, white silk blouse, blaek skirt, and blaek crinoline straw hat trimmed with black ribbon; Mrs. IL Reynolds, white silk blouse, black skirt, and white hat trimmed with navy blue; Mrs. C. Hunter, pale grey Sicilian Eton coat and skirt, white embroidered vest, white hat trimmed with white tulle, and white marguerites and black velvet bow; Mrs. A. Bell, white muslin blouse, black skirt, white hat trimmed with black ribbon and roses; Mrs. Pike, white dress with pink ribbons, and while hat

trimmed with pink; Mrs. O. Stewart (Auckland}, white muslin frock, green silk coat, and white hat trimmed with white and pink berries; Miss Gwynneth, pale grey Sicilian Eton coat and skirt, white silk vest, French grey hat trimmed with striped ribbon bows; Miss Brooks, white muslin frock, and navy blue hat; Miss Jessie Brooks, cream lustre frock, and Tuscan .straw hat trimmed with floral ribbon and grasses; Miss Cox, palo blue and white voile dress and white hat; Miss K. Willis, pale blue blouse with white lace bretelles and cream serge skirt, white hat with blue scarf; Miss Young, white muslin blouse with bretelles of brown holland, skirt of the same, Tuscan straw hat trimmed with cream lace. The Presbyterian Bible Class opened their TENNIS COURTS in the Manse grounds last Wednesday. There was a very large gathering of members and friends. The Mayor and Mayoress were present, and the former opened the courts. Afternoon tea was served by the lady members of the class.
