Dear Bee. August 30. Last Friday evening Mrs. John Stevenson gave A FAREWELL BRIDGE PARTY for Mrs. Blundell, who is leaving shortly for Nelson. Mrs. Stevenson received her guests in a beautiful gown of eream glace silk with black lace applique overskirt, ami full eream ehiffon sleeves, .with wide black velvet swathed belt, with tabs embroidered in pale pink and green silk. The first prize, a Doulton palm bowl, was won by Mrs. J. C. Greenwood; the booby, a fancy hat pin. fell to Mrs. Dodgsbun. Amongst thtose present - were Mesclames Stevenson, Blundell, Brettargh, Hutton, D’Arcy, Lewis, Fairburn. Peake, Reaney, Griffiths, Chamberlain, Hughes-Johnston, Huinphdys, Dodgshnn, Sarjeaut, Misses Stanford and Reieahrt.

On Monday Mrs. Dodgshnn gave ANOTHER BRIDGE PARTY in honour of Mrs. Blundell. Mrs. Dodgshun wore a pretty pale blue silk blouse with numerous bands of Valenciennes insertion and narrow laee, blaek silk skirt; Mrs. Blundell, -a becoming pale green silk evening blouse with wide eream insertion and full elbow sleeves edged with lace, black silk skirt. The, first prize, a beautiful Liberty ornament, was won by Mrs. Barnicoat; thp booby, a silver vase, fell to Mrs. D’Arcy. Amongst the guest were Mesdames Stevenson, Peake, Reaney, Lewis, Blundell, Hutton, Hughes Johnston, Griffiths, Greenwood, Sarjeaut, J. Anderson. D’Arcy, Barnicoat, Misses Owen and Reiehart. GOLF. There was only a fair attendance the golf links on Wednesday. A senior match was played for a prize presented by Mrs. Good, and won by Mrs. D’Arcy. Amongst those present were Mesdames Sarjeaut, Innes, Lomax. Good, D’Arcy, Misses Dalrymple, Bulls. Stanford. Imlay, Dailey, Cave, Taylor (2), Brown, Milford. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. D’Arcy. There was a very large attendance at the Opera House on Wednesday even ing. when the WANGANUI ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY held their most successful convert. Amongst the audience 1 noticed Mrs. James Watt in a white silk gown with Ix-rtl I real laee; Mrs. 11. Sarjeaut wore blue, velvet gown with berthe of Brussels laee, eream cloth opera coat, with lace; Mrs. Wiltord. blaek velvet gown with collar, and vest of cream ehiffon and Ince; Miss Wiltord, pale blue erepe de chi.ie, with Valenciennes laee and insertion, blue cloth opera cloak; Miss P. Jones, blaek chiffon taffetas froek with berthe of l.ne; Mrs. Meldrliin, white silk with eream lace; Mrs. A. Nixon, beautiful black chiffon taffetas gown with chiffon and Ince on her corsakv; Mrs. Palmers, black silk and lace; Mis? Moore, dainty white inns-

lin gown; Mrs. G. Marshall, black broJailed silk muslin gown with deep bertha of cream lace, and black corded silk sash; Mrs. P. Lewis wore a becoming frock of blue chiffon taffetas with lace and chiffon; Mrs. J. Anderson, black silk gown with beautiful lace on her corsage; Mrs. Greenwood, blue velvet silk with V-shaped yoke, and tiny blue velvet bows; Miss W. Anderson, white silk gown with narrow frills of lace; Mrs. S. Izard, black and white evening gown -with transparent lace yoke and brown fur cloak; Miss Fraser (Wellington), white silk gown and long pale grey opera cloak. There were also present, Mesdatnes Hutton, Christie, Mason, Nixon. Heaney, Misses Darley, Russell, Drew, Humphreys and others. On Wednesday evening Mrs. Arthur Lewis gave a BRIDGE PARTY IN HONOUR OF ' .MRS. BLUNDEDL. The first prize, a silver and cut glass scent bottle, was won by Mrs. Barnicoat; the second prize, a silver ornament, by Mrs. John Watt. Amongst those present were Mesdatnes King (Dunedin). Dodgshun, Lomax, Blundell, Pharazyn. Lewis, Izett, Fairburn, Barnicoat. Wall, John Watt, Griffiths, Stevenson, Misses Jones, O. Stanford, McNeill, Stanford (New Plymouth), Reichart, Bewer. Mr. and Mrs. Barthorpe, of Silverhope, were in Wanganui this week.
