Miss May Beatty, who appeared recently at the Bordesley Palace, Birmingham, was so successful in her pantomime engagement at the Dublin Gaiety that Mr Arthur Collins has offered her the part of principal girl in the next Drury Lane annual. Mr F. W. Wyndham, who manages theatres in Edinburgh and Glasgow, also made her an offer for the next pantomime season, and, lastly, Mr George Edwardes wishes to engage her for Miss Evie Greene’s part in the autumn tour of “The Lady Dandies,” now at Daly’s. The young New Zealander has, therefore, every reason to be satisfied with her debut in England, says “The British-Australasian.”

At a recent sale of musical autographs in Paris some of the results were a little surprising. For instance, whereas a letter of Gounod and another of Verdi fetched respectively only 10 and 12 francs, a mere receipt by Gretry realised 30 francs. A couple of letters written by Wagner brought in between them 318 francs; 103 francs was given for a receipt signed by Beethoven, amt 125 francs for a short note written by Chopin. Other items of note were two bars of the orchestral score of “Logheiigrin,” written by the composer in pencil, 130 francs; a few Beethoven sketches, 180 francs; the MS. orchestral score of Massenet’s “Phedre,” 505 francs; a Chopin mazurka, 705 francs; ana a little song by Schubert, written in one page, 13 francs.

Mr Julius Knight began his final fortnight at the Sydney Theatre Royal last Saturday (11th May) with a revival of ithat “extra-special” favourite from his repertoire, "Monsieur Beaueaire,” and the romantic comedy drama was welcomed, as was to be expected, by a splendid house. On the 18th May “The Silver King” was substituted for it, and after a six night's revival Mr Knight and his company depart for New Zealand on a three months’ visit. August 31st will see them back in Australia, *t Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne, where they will appear for the first time Hiiiee their existence- as a combination.
