If we were t osay that thousands of people regularly and almost sytemaliially poison themselves with food, it might strike the average reader as extravagant. Medical science, however, is explicit on the point, and tells us that people who over eat poison themselves as truly as if they imbibed the contents of a poison phial. How many people are there who select their food with care, cat it at tho right lime and in the proper way lo ensure good digestion and subsequent absorption, of just Um physiologically correct amount of nutriment required to repair tho waste incurred by Hie duties of every day life? There ate very few. Some starve themselves, but the great majority go lo tho other extreme, and constantly over-cat. Ono cats too much at regular meal times, while another eats less, but feeds more frequently. In either ease th* digestive apparatus is overtaxed.
