FOR . ~ but they were held all t tjie_ same. We have had such wonderfully fine weather for months it seems haird it should break just now. The countryside, however, seems grateful for the rain, and it had its effect in making everything look delightfully green and fresh. Of course- .the train journey makes one regardless of the rain to a certain extent, and the grandstand is well sheltered, so things might have, been worse. Sealskin coats were much in favour on Wednesday, also the new tailor-mades, and some very smart hats appeared.' Most women were shrouded in motor veils, so it was difficult to distinguish them, but here and there a gay toque displayed itself jauntily. A Very pleasant lunch was given by the President of the Club. Mr. J. B. Harcourt. , MISS HARCOURT S DANCE bn Friday came as a pleasant break in the Monotony. It; was given as a, farewell to Miss’ Doris Johnston, who with her parents has just gone for a trip to England. St. Peter’s, schoolroom was gaily decorated for the occasion, a prominent feature being a trophy of hockey sticks surrounded by ferns and palms. Crossed sticks, and tin- club colours also adorned the- walls. Dancing was kept up ,with the greatest spirit long after the formal end had arrived, and the guests-seemed most reluctant to leave. •Among those present were Miss Glasgow, wearing white mousseline .de ;soie; Miss *Fi>lton7 white erepe de chine; Miss Jones, white crepe de chine; Miss Jameson, white satin . and lace; Miss .('rawford, a pretty dress of white mousseline de soie; Miss Wilson, pale blue; and white ..laee- Miss Hannah.
