THE BESSES O’ TH’ BARN BAND had a most successful season, here last week —two open-air concerts in the Recreation Grounds in most perfect weather and three in the Opera House, all being very well attended. As the title denotes, coupon* were hidden in all kinds -of puzzling places, and great fun was experienced in finding them- Miss Stanford was the lucky winner of the first prize (a beautiful purse), and 'the second (a pretty silver hatpin) fell to Aliss Nixon. Among those present were: Aliss Ida Stevenson, who received her guests in a dainty white muslin frock, with Valenciennes lace. She wore a .wide heliotrope silk sash, and the same shaded ribbon in her hair. Miss Greig (Auckland) .wore a pink floral delaine gown, with narrow frills, edged with lace, and yoke of fine Valenciennes lace, cream straw French sailor hat, with pink flowers and foliage; Aliss H. Blundell, white muslin frock, with narrow frills on the skirt, and lace on the bodice, becoming erimson straw hat, with bandeau of crimson ribbon, crown swathed in the same, with quills at the side; Miss Mason, pale blue check gingham, the bodice made with small pleated basque, cream straw French sii'or bat, with blue and pink floral ribbons; Aliss Harding (Wellington), cream canvas costume, with shoulder scarf of pale pink chiffon, cream fancy straw hat, with pink chiffon, small pink flowers and foliage; Aliss N. Cowper wore a cream frock, fancy straw hat, with green; Aliss Nixon, pale dainty blue embroidered muslin frock, white embroidered muslin hat, with soft pale blue and pink ribbons; Airs. Geo. Currie, smart pale grey crepe de chine gown, cream straw hat, with green shaded foliage; Miss Baker, white muslin frock, with insertion and lace, Tuscan straw hat, with long blaek ostrich feathers, black velvet and crimson roses and foliage; Aliss Stanford, pale pink floral muslin frock, with deep cream lace, cream hat, relieved with pink flowers; Miss O. Stanford, white embroidered muslin, with floral sash, cream fancy straw hat, with ruche of chiffon and pale blue forget-me-nots; Aliss Brewer, green voile costume, with killings of silk of a darker shade, fancy straw hat. with green trimmings; Aliss Ashcroft, becoming white muslin gown, with which she wore a shaded chiffon shoulder scarf, and wide green silk sash, green straw hat. with chiffon and flowers; Miss O.
