Orange Blossoms.

REED—CARTER. The Baptist Tabernacle, Auckland, was the scene of a very pretty and interesting wedding last Wednesday, when Miss Julia (Jewel) Carter, daughter of Mr. T. E. Carter, The Haven, Ponsonby, was married to the Rev. Alex. J. Reed,. The Rev. J. < lark officiated, assisted by the Rev. B. F. Rothwell. Mr. Craston presided at the organ. The church was artistically decorated with ivy and white flowers; the scheme including a unique arrangement of three bells overhung with ivy, the work of the Missess B. Oram and Spedding. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in white taffetas encrusted with pearl passementerie and silk Maltese lace. She wore a lovely bridal veil over a coronet of orange blossoms, the gift of the bride’s relatives in England, and she carried a beautiful shower bouquet, the gift of Mr. Fisher, Birkenhead. The Misses Flo and Annie Carter attended as bridesmaids, and were attired in pale blue silk voile frocks, trimmed with silk Maltese lace, and white velvet hats with white plumes. They also carried pretty shower bouquets. The bridegroom presented the bride with-, a gold pendant set with rubies and pearls, and gold pendants of opals and . pearls to the bridesmaids. Air. E. Cox aececi as best man, and Mr. A. Carter as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at Buchanan’s, where there, were a hundred guests entertained. Later the Rev. and Mrs. Reed left on their wedding tour, the bride wearing a smart brown cloth gown, with felt hat to match. The bridegroom has been stationed at Rotorua, during the past twelve months, and on the return from the honeymoon, will take up his pastoral duties at Eltham Taranaki. The wedding presents number over 100 (exclusive of cheques), a number of which, were presented by the bridegroiu’s brother clergy and parish ioners of Rotorua, Batea, Hamilton, and Bay of Islands. The wedding of Miss Brenda llacou and Air I‘harazvn. was an exceedingly pretty one - The bride looked lovely in her! wedding dress of white crepe de chine over glace trimmed with lace and ribbon ruches, the yoke and uudersleeves being of fine laee and chiffon. A small wreath of orange flowers and handsomely embroidered veil completed a charming costume. The bridesmaids (Miss Phyllis Higginson and Aliss Lucy Brandon’s) frocks were of white liberty satin, laced down the side with pale green satin ribbon, yoke and sleeves of lace outlined with green. Empire bows of green crepe de chine, white glace hats with tips and green bows. Misses Margery, Joseph, and Nancy Pharazyn wore pretty little frocks of white silk and lace, with green sashes and quaint little arrangements of lace and rosettes in their hair. The ceremony took place at St. Paul’s pro Cathedral, the Rev. A. de 11. Robinson being the officiating clergyman. Lieut.-Col. Campbell, uncle of the bride, gave her away, and Dr. Fyffe presided at the organ. Air Frank Pharazyn (Hawke’s Bay) was best man to his brother, and Mr Robert Turnbull, groomsman. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a diamond brooch and pendant, to the bridesmaids fine gold chains and pearl pendants. A reception was held after the ceremony at ‘‘Rawhiti,” Golder's Hill, by Airs Hacon, and Col. and Airs Campbell, at which a large number of people were present. The bride went away in pastel blue doth with long coat, small blue hat with hydrangeas and blue bows. The honeymoon will b ■ spent at Rotorua and Auckland. GLEESON -GA LLAGHEIt. A very pretty wedding took place al St. Joseph's Church. Wellington, on April 2nd. when Miss Jennie Patricia Gallagher, daughter of the late Mr. James Gallagher, was married to Mr. M. L. Gleeson, solicitor, of Napier, eldest son of Mr. Patrick Gleeson, brewer, of that town. Numerous presents were received from all parts of the colony, including a residence and ground* in, Napier, and th? freehold of the Windsor Castle Hotel, Painell, Auckland, the gifts of Mr. Patri?k Gleeson to his son. Mr. McKenzie, of Maungataroto. on Wednesday, March 21. when Miss Lucie McMurdo. second daughter of Mr. 11. Fitz gerald McMurdo, was married to Mr. Masterton W. S. Hemphill, son of Mr. James Hemphill, Maungataroto, Kaipara. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a beautiful white Irish linen hand embroidered gown, with Irish lace zouave and white satin corselet belt. Instead of the customary wreath of orange blossoms and veil, she was crowned with a dainty coronet of Japanese aencmones and sprays of delicate maidenhair fern, and carried a bouquet com posed of same flowers. The bridesmaids were the Misses Marguerite ami Norah McMurdo, sisters of the bride, and Miss Phyllis Mountainc, who were all prettily attired in fine white Swiss muslin gowns, trimmed with Valenciennes lace, and pale blue swathed belts. Mr. F. Hemphill, brother of the bridegoroin, was best man. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a handsome diamond and ruby pendant, and the bridesmaids’ presents were pretty silver belts. After the ceremony a number of guests were invited to a wedding breakfast, the table being tastefully decorated with ferns and white flowers, a lovely wedding-bell of ferns and while hot-house flowers being very much admired. Later on Mr. and Mrs. Hemphill left on their honeymoon trip to Waiwerii and Auckland, the-bride wearing a becoming grey tweed , Eton . coat- and skirt, and pretty red toque. Airs. McMurdo received the guests in a dainty toilette of black silk voile, with cream lace encrustations. Mrs. W. H. Jackman wore grey mousseline, brightened with touches of sea riel ; Miss Hardwick, brown silk costume; Mrs. Bridgman, dainty black and while muslin; Mrs. Douglas Snelling, pretty pink muslin gown; .Mrs. G. Linnell, pale blue mousseline; Airs. P. 11. Gibson was effectively gowned in white Swiss muslin over pale green glace; Mrs. David Milne, black costume; Airs. Sydney Rathbone, black eolienne skirt and dainty pale gieeu silk blouse; Airs. Coates, black; Aliss Jackman, pink floral muslin and pah* blue hat; Miss A. Jackman, pretty cream frock; Airs. Auckland, last Monday, when Mr. Romeo Bragato, the well known Government viticulturist, was married to Aliss Laura Condon, of Auckland. Dr. Clements Murphy acted as groomsman, the bride being given away, by her guardian, the Hon. I’. Thompson. M.L.C. The, Rev. Father Holbrook ofliciated af. the ceremony, and Bishop Lenihau administerd the benediction. Mr. Bragato and his bride subsequently left by the express for a brief visit to Rotorua.
