NEW PLYMOUTH.

Dear Bee, Dec. 8. A VERY SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL to celebrate the «2nd anniversary of St. Mary's Church was held in St. Mary's Hall last Tuesday evening, and it is doubtful whether there Ims been such an enjoyable one. Before the musical part of the programme was carried out the Vicar. Rev. Mr. F. G. Evans, made a short but appropriate speech apologising at the same time for the absence of the Mayor (Mr. Doekrill). Among other forms of amusement provided were cards (bridge and euchre), a large number of tables in an adjoining room being occupied throughout the evening. The proceeds of the gathering were in aid of the church expenses, and the arrangements were admirably carried out by the following ladies. Mesdames Docktill (President), Webster, Bedford, Kyngdon, Standish, Freeth, AlcKellar, end Misses Godfrey. Marshall, Webster. I. Taylor, L. Skinner, Bedford, and Fleet wood.
