Dear Bee, September 11. The BULB'SHOW in aid of the • funds of the museum was held in the hall on Wednesday afternoon, and was only moderately patronised. There were some excellent exhibits, particularly those of Mrs. Krull, Mrs. Dalrymple. Mrs. Mason. Mrs. Earle, and Mr. Sinclair. Amongst those present I noticed Mrs. Baruicoat in a pale green striped coatand skirt , black crinoline toque with shaded roses forming the crown; Airs. R. Hewitt, becoming brown cloth costume, brown fancy straw hat with ribbons and wings: Mrs. Pharazyn, black cloth trained gown with collarette and muff of black velvet edged with grey fur, Early Victorian bonnet relieved with white: Mrs. A. Lewis, navy blue Melton eoat and skirt, cream vest, crimson chenille toque with wings to match; Airs. BarnardBrown, smart black cloth tailor-made-coat and skirt, black hat with ostrich feathers, ribbon and aigrette; Mrs. Earle, black Alelton coat and skirt, cream embroidered linen vest, floral toque of violets; Airs. Mason, pale grey check tweed coat and skirt, collar of black velvet . white felt hat with black Astradian and wings; Airs. A. Izard, green cloth Empire coat trimmed with black silk military braid and rosette of black velvet, tobae brown skirt, brown straw hat with green velvet and eoque feathers; Airs, llawken, pale grey costume with champagne lace and insertion, black strawbonnet with feather and shaded flowers; Aliss Hawken wore a pretty cream cloth gown banded with velvet to match, fancy straw hat with shaded flowers and foliage: Aliss Alexander, black silk with lace, becoming black hat with plumes; Aliss Cameron, dark green coat and skirt, with cuffs and revers of velvet a darker shade, cream vest, hat to match; Airs. Stanford, black cloth costume. Early Victorian Itonnet with pale green and blue satin ribbon rosettes; Airs. Williams, tobae brown cloth coat and skirt, cream vest, brown felt hat with ribbons and wings to match; Airs. Beaumont (Dunedin), black doth coat and skirt, cream vest, black straw bonnet. THE LIEDERTAFEL SOCIETY gave a very successful concert in the < Ipera House last Thursday to a crowded audience. The members were assisted by Mr. Aspinall (tenor), of Auckland, who took the solos in “ The Desert,” and Aliss L. White, of Wanganui, and both had to respond to well-merited encores for their respective items. Amongst the large and fashionable audience were Mrs. Babbage, black silk skirt, pink shaded silk blouse banded with champagne lace: Mrs. James Watt, black velvet gown tucker of white chiffon, berthe of white silk embroidered with Oriental shades; Mrs. Wall, pale grey crepe de chine gown with opera coat of blue satin; Mrs. Barnieoat. black silk gown, blue opera coat with deep collar of champagne lace: Aliss Barnieoat, soft white silk with lace yoke and cuffs, and pale blue sash: Mrs. A. E. Kitehen, black silk skirt, eau-de-nil silk blouse trimmed with champagne lac? with yoke of same material; Airs. Frank Hatherley. black skirt, white silk blouse, with theatre coat of creme cloth: Airs. Alexander, black silk gown with berthe of champagne lace; Miss Alexander, black silk costume, the corsage relieved with black net and lace; Mrs. W. Aitken, black silk skirt, blue silk blouse with champagne transparent yoke; Mrs. Hatuek, black silk sfcirt, pale blue silk blouse trimmed with lace; Airs. Pharazyn, black satin gown with beautiful fichu of cream lace; Mrs. Arthur Lewis, pale grey voila

over grqy glace silk, profusely trimmed with champagne laee. Last week Miss Imlay, of “ Mount Desert," gave AN ENJOYABLE BRIDGE PARTY. Amongst those present were Mrs. and Alias - Barnieoat, Airs. Igxlay Saunders, Ali-s" J. Watt, Mrs. Pharazyn. Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Wall, Mrs. Blundell. Mrs. Christie, Mrs. <?. Campbell. GOLF. Last week afternoon tea was provide! by the Misses Williams and Asheroft at the Balgowrie golf links, on the occasion of a bogey match. Aliss Cleghorn won the senior and Miss Gresson the junior. Amongst those on the links I noticed Afesdames Sargeant, Brookfield, Harvey, Innes, Cleghorn. Gifford, Marshall, Wall, Anderson. Watt, McNaughton, Christie, Nixon. J. Anderson, Misses Russell (Christchurch), Cave, Jackson, Taylor, Cowper, Marshall (New Plymouth), Nixon. Hardcastle, Dalrymple (Bulls), Izard (Christchurch). Barnieoat. Bagley (New Plymouth), Reichart. and many others.
