AUCKLAND PROVINCE. Mrs Vaile (Auckland) and Miss D. Metcalfe spent last week in Hamilton. Mrs W. M. Bankart (Te Mata) spent a day in Hamilton during last week. Mrs. E. H. Pavitt, Gisborne, is visiting her daughter in Christchurch. The Rev. Joseph Clark returned from Gisborne by the Tarawera last week. Mr and Mrs Henry Wily, “The Falls.” Mauku, are spending a few days in Auckland. I.ieutenant and Miss Calloway arrived in Auckland from the South on Sunday morning. Professor McLaurin was among the arrivals from Xew Plymouth by the' Takapuna on Friday. Miss Jennie Arndt, accompanied by her sister. Miss E. Arndt, left for Wellington by the s.s. Taka puna on Friday. Mr G. E. Tolhurst, resilient inspector in New Zealand for the Union Bank of Australia, was in Auckland last week. Mr E. Davis, of Hancock's Brewing Company, returned from Wellington by the Rarawa last week. Mrs. and Miss Wallis and Miss H. Woodbine-Johnson, of Gisborne, are on a three weeks’ visit to Rotorua. Miss Nellie Gannon, of Curran street. Ponsonby, is visiting her brother, Mr Arthur Gannon, in Wellington. Miss E. Cooper, of Wainui, Gisborne, who has been staying with friends in Christchurch and Wellington, has returned home. Mrs T. McFarlane and Miss Christabel McFarlane, of "Roseleigh,” Wynyard street, are at present on a visit to their sister in the Waikato. Nurse E. Metcalfe went South last week to take a position as charge nurse of the Southland Hospital (Invercargill). Miss Amy Cooke, Carlton Gore-road. Auckland, who. has been spending some months with her sister, Mrs Ala ling, Geraldine, returned to Auckland last week.

Mrs E. B. Simpson. Cheltenham Beach, Devonport, who has been spending the past few mouths in Napier and New Plymouth, returned to Auckland last Saturday.

Mr. G. A. Green, late manager of the Jlorshead Nursery Co., New Plymouth, has removed to Auckland with his wife and family, having rejoined the firm of "Bennett and Green,” nurserymen. Nurse Clayton-Brewer, who resigned the position of charge-nurse at Coromandel Hospital, left Auckland by the Tarawera on Saturday, to take up a similar position in the Pahiatua Hospital.

Mr Austin Allom, of West Australia, and son of Mr A. J. Allom, of Auckland, is at present over here on a holiday visit with Mrs Allom. Mr Allom was one of the original students of the Thames School of Mines, when Mr Alex. Montgomery, M.A., was director. Mr J. W. Hill, who Tor the last two or three months has been in charge of the Auckland office of the Government Tourist Department, returned to Wellington via Rotorua hist week. Mr. G. A. II; Poland, and J. Stallworthy, M.H.R.'s. returned by the Taka puna on Sunday from attending last week's short Parliamentary session. At the Royal Hotel, Thames, last week, Mr. A. Nichol, wha has hi.vn in the employ of J. Hague Smith ami Co. for the past 10years, was presented with a handsome gold albert on the occasion of his severing his connection with the firm prior to entering business in Auckland.
