A GIANT SLEEPS.
(Thursday, June 21st. 1906.1 A giant sleeps! No sound of axe or hammer Must break his rest to-dav. While toiling thousands pa’use and trv to stammer In dull sad wav Some fragments of their gratitude and love. A giant sleeps! No sweet old nursery story E'er painted one more strong To clear his way through life to tasting glory. By hewing down the wrong While from far seas his fellow men looked on. A giant sleeps! Breathe softly while we venture nearer To wonder what he dreams. If we eateh but a glimpse our way is clearer. For his brain teems With projects .to uplift the bending mass. A giant sleeps’ His tireless bauds He idle, But since he blazed the track. Be ours to push straight on, to know ua bridle No turning back. Till all his noblest schemes take perfect shape. R.S.
