The pedestal is beautifully polished, the large central portion bearing the inscription in letters of gold: ‘Sir John Logan Campbell, lie gave Cornwall Park to the people of New Zealand.” 'The statue measures 9ft 6in, and weighs about three tons. (In the base, east ill bronze, is a thistle Hower and foliage, in tribute to the country which gave Sir John birth.
