There was a most ENJOYABLE SURPRISE PARTY last Thursday evening, when a large number of young people bicycled and drove down to t'astleeliff to visit Mrs John Stevenson, who is spending the summer holidays there. Amongst those present were Mr and Mrs Stevenson. Mrs Oldham (Taihape). Mrs Brettugh, Misses Ida Stevenson, D. Cleghorn, H. Blundell. D. Brettagh, E. Brettagh, Dodgshum, Gresson, O. Stanfor, L. Barnard-Brown. Brewer. W. Anderson, M. Lifliton, Darley, Messrs

CROQUET has now become a very favourite pas time iu Wanganui, all the private lawns are in an excellent condition, and most, enjoyable little eroquet (carries liavq been given lately by Mrs 11. Sarjeant. Mrs S. T. Fitzherbert, and Mrs James Watt. Mrs Holm Biss gave a small AFTERNOON TEA on Wednesday, 10th inst., in honour of. Mrs Biss, of Auckland, who is staying with her at present. Apipngst the, guests wore Mesdauves Stanford, Biss (Auckland), McLean, Innes, Hope- Gibbons, Misses Fenwiek (Dunedin), Wodgshun, Tisdale (Auckland), Brewer, McLean, and others. On Tuesday evening, IGth inst.. Mr< Brettagh, who is spending a holiday at Castlecliff, and is accompanied by her daughters, gave A MOST ENJOYABLE DANCE at the tea rooms near the beach.
