Dear Bee, August 17. THE OLD HIGH SCHOOL BOYS gave a most enjoyable euchre party and dance at the High School Gymnasium Hall on Friday evening last. The hall was most tastefully decorated with flags. Euchre was played till 10.30, when the floor was cleared for dancing. The ladies’ prizes were won by Airs Ringiand and Aliss Rutherford. Mr Humphries and Air Polson won the gentlemen's prizes. On Monday last, at the Athenaeum, Air Ashcroft Noall gave a most interesting lecture on CHOPIN, and during the evening Air Noall played several of the- composer’s well-known pieces. Favoured with lovely weather, the GYMNASTIC AND MILITARY DISPLAY given by the pupils of the Napier Boys’ High School on Wednesday afternoon hist was largely attended by those interested in the schoolboys. The City Band was in attendance, and rendered a number of very enjoyable selections.
