Dear Bee, July 28. The fourth of I he series of < inderella dances took place in the Foresters’ Hall on Wednesday evening last. Again we were fortunate in having a clear, frosty night, and that, combined with splendid music and a perfect floor, made this (lance as successful as (he others have been. As a novelty we had a card dance. By that I mean each lady and gentleman drew a card from different packs, and those whose cards corresponded were partners. Among others present were Mrs W. 11. Miss Coombs. On Saturday evening the Afisses Fraser, of ( raven College, gave a large CHILDREN’S PARTY to celebrate the birthday of their little niece. Coppie Cargill. This party has been given regularly for.-some years now. and ’’Coppie’s” birthday is quite an event in the history of the.college. Miss Nellie Stewart was lavish in her praise of the NEW OPERA HOUSE. She says we have a magnificent theatre, but thinks it is rather overdone. lying much too good for a town tin* size of Palmerston. I’he conveniences and appointments reminded her of the Princess Theatre in Melbourne. which is the finest in Australia. The marriage of Miss Alami'* Waldegrave. Wellington, and Mr. Harry Atkinson, Hawera. which took place in Wellington on Tuesday created a great deal of interest in Palmerston, the bride being very well known here. Many of her Palmerston relations and friends went to Wellington to h?, present al the ceremony. Mrs Hy. Waldegrave and I er little twin daughters. Sybil and Doris, went some days before, as the little girls were to be two of the bridesmaids. ■ Mrs. C. E. Waldegrave.
