Dear Bee, April 20. The Kelburne Tea Kiosk was th* scene of A VERY DELIGHTFUL AFTERNOON X AT HOME. given on Tuesday by Mrs G. !•'. C. Campbell. The day, though clear and fine, was distinctly chilly, but the kiosk proved itself quite an ideal spot under the circumstances. The large inner room was warm and cosy, and tha wide glassed-in verandahs surrounding it give ample space -to enjoy the magnificent view in comfort and shelter. The many small tables were daintily set out with appetising sandwiches and cakes —the floral decorations harmonised admirably with the background of artistic green, which is the prevailing tint in the tea-room. Mrs Campbell received her guests at the verandah entrance. She looked very well in a smartly-made gown of white cloth, bordered with dark fur. The coat-bodice had an inner vest of reseda silk, enhanced with buttons and cords in shades of brown and green. Her hat was of white felt, the crown swathed with brown and green vclevt. Among the many guests were Mrs Hacon, wearing black voile and a black chiffon hat; Miss Hacon, brown hopsac, cream silk and lace vest, brown furs, and a brown toque, with clusters of niauva violets. A large number of people journeyed out to Newtown on Wednesday afternoon to be present at the OPENING OF THE VICTORIA HOME FOR CHRONIC INVALIDS. The ladies who organised the bazaar to pay for the building must have felt proud as they surveyed the big brick editice which stands on a commanding teite in the hospital grounds. Their good efforts do not cease there, however, as they have also undertaken to provide the furniture by means of another bazaar to be held in June. It was hoped that the Home would be opened by Her Excellency Lady Plunket, but she was unable to be in Wellington at the time fixed. The ceremony was performed by Mrs T. C. Williams, president of the bazaar, who also read the opening prayer. Mrs Williams wore black silk voile, with bands of embroidery, mounted on white glace, long sealskin coat, cream chiffon bonnet with tips: Miss E.
