Dear Bee, January 27. On Friday afternoon Miss Earle gave a small TENNIS AND CROQUET PARTY”. Among those present were Misses Earle, Cameron, C. Anderson, If. Anderson, J. Wilson (Bulls), Moore, Dodgshun, Campbell, Cowper, E. Anderson, Knight (Dannevirke), N. Wilson (Bulls), Izard, and others. Afternoon tea was given by the Misses .Stanford AT THE TENNIS COURTS on Saturday. Amongst those present were Mcsdames Stanford, If. Sarjeant, Misses Stanford (Palmerston North), E. Stanford (New .Plymouth), W. Anderson, Dodgshun, Campbell, G. Stanford, Izard, Van Ascii (Christchurch), Cave, M. Liffiton, Darley, Jones, O. Stanford, F, Lifl'iton. Messrs. Ilatlierley, Fairburn, B. Anderson, Izard, D. Morrison, Stevenson, G. Anderson (Christchurch), Dodgshun, Waterson, C. Anderson, .and others. The match between the Feilding and. the Wanganui Lawn Tennis Clubs on Anniversary Day resulted in a win for the former. Some of the games were most interesting, and our representatives, though they returned unsuccessful, had a very pleasant outing. On Monday last (Anniversary Day) the annual sports of the Caledonian Society were held on Cook’s Gardens, and attracted a large crowd and were a great success. THE CONCERT under the auspices of the Society was held in the Opera House in the evening, and was well attended. In addition to the vocal and instrumental items on the programme Highland flings were danced by Miss Mona Fraser and Mrs Murchie. During the interval His Worship the Mayor (Mr Bigneli) presented the medals donated by the Society to the duxes of the local schools, Miss L. Duigan (Girls’ High School), Masters Harrison (Boys’ High School), and Cronin (Marist Brothers). The medal for tiie best-dressed Highland boy was won by Master Allen.
