LAWN TENNIS.

AUCKLAND LAWN TENNIS CLUB. The annual genet al meeting of the Auckland Lawn Tenuis Club was hold last week, when there was a good attendance of members. Mr T. Jackson, president of the club, occupied the chair. The report and balance sheet of last season were read and confirmed. 'Fhe President, in his remarks mentioned that the club had reason to be congratulated on their present sound financial position, ami the success of last season. Through the energy and attention of the Ground Superintendent (Mr E. B. Valle) the courts had played well during the season, and at present were in excellent condition. From the report laid before him by the secretary. W was pleasing to note that the play of the young members showed improvement, and another pleasing feature of last season’s club handicaps was that seveial new lady members were prize winners. ’Fhe election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr T. Jackson (reelected); vice-presidents, Messrs R. 11. Abbott. A. B. J. Irvine, W. Ledingham, L. Armitage, L. Benjamin, A. Myers, E. Kent, and Dre. Parkes and Craig: gentlemen's Committee. Messis Swinnock. Koeslng, McLean. and Johnson; ladles’ committee. Mrfidames Palethorpe, Jackson. Coates, Misses Plcken, and Woodroffe: honorary secretaries. Messrs M. G. Palethorpe and E. B. Vaile; honorary treasurer, Mr F. Bullen; honorary auditor, Mr 8. Watkins; delegates to the Association, Messrs T. Jackson and B. KeesJng. It was resolved to hold the annual general meeting towards the end of April instead of October, as in previous years, and that the present, season be open In conjunction with the Bowling Club, on Saturday, October 29. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr F. UalHwelL who so ably conducted the winter entertainments of ♦he club, in con junction with the ladies’ and gentlemen's committee, and who by their efforts had succeeded in placing the club In the sound financial position It at present occupied.
