His Excellency the Governor and Lady Plunket are already interesting themselves in charitable works. Last week Lady Plunket paid a visit to St. Mary’s Home for Girls at Karori (Wellington), and spent some time inspecting the working of the institution, with which she was much pleased. Mrs AA allis, president of the Home, acted as cicerone. Mrs Tanner (hon. treasurer) and Miss Harcourt (hon. secretary) were also present. In granting their patronage to the Wellington branch of the Sailors’ Rest Lord and Lady Plunket intimated that the work had their warm sympathy, and that they would personally interest themselves in the mission.
