Dear Bee, June 24. The Napier Harmonic Society, under the conductor-hip of Mr < "liudwiek. gava their second concert al the Gaiety

Theatre on the 22nd inst. The inelo«Nou> cantata. "St. Cecilia’s Day” (van Bree), was well rendered by' the members of the choir. Mrs T. W. Iteid singing the solo part’. Songs were effectlvely snug by Messrs Twohill, Newton, and Miss Large. The last-named was enthusiastically encored. Ojbulka’s “Waldesflustern,” by the orchestra under the direction of Mr Spackmnn, was perfectly played, and “The Watchword.’ a part-song, was given by Me.’dames Hilton. Keen. Morrison mid Voolman. and Messrs Blackman, King. Martin, and Wilson. Amongst those in tile audience were; —Mrs Tanner, who was handsomely* dressed in black silk much .trimmed with white lace; Mrs Stedman was also in black, the -bodice relieved with spangled net and pink chiffon; Mrs Ant-ill wore a white silk dress, and an opera cloak much trimmed with white fur; Mrs Edgar. blue costume; Miss Seale looked well in black and white; Miss lloxdley, black satin dress; Miss Myra Williams had a stylish dress of soft white silk; Miss Smith looked well in pink satin, handsomely trimmed with eerii lace; Mrs I*. S. McLean, black costume. long red Opera coat edged with swan-down; Mrs Henley had a pale blue dress; Mrs Davidson’s costume of black satin and net suited her admirably; Mrs Kettle also wore black.satin, the •bodice much trimmed with beautiful white lace; Mrs Adair Blythe (Masterton) was in white-satin trimmed with soft white chiffon; Miss Kennedy was in a pale green silk blouse and a dark shirt; Mrs Todd, black silk; Miss Todd, Cieain costume; Miss Dean, pale blue crepe de chine; Mrs East was in black and pale blue.

A large audience assembled al the Athenaeum Hull on Tuesday to li-ten ,1o an interesting lecture on ‘Don Quixote. the Book and its Author.” by Mr W. Dinwiddie. Mesdames McLean. Cargill, Bowen, Ronald, Dinwiddie. Edgar. Stedman. Henley, Misses Buchar.au, McLean, Page. Williams. Todd, Chapman. Kennedy. Dinwiddie. Large, Messrs McLean. Parker. Buchanan, Cargill. Dixon. ete., were present. The next lecture wilt be on “Lord Nelson" by Mr J. C. Westall.
