AUCKLAND RESULTS. The Auckland team defeated University by five goals to two. The bully off soon attacked, and Mason receiving a pass notched the first goal. After some give-and-take play Auckland again became aggressive, and Broadfoot passed to Mason, and 1 lie latter scored his second goal. From a scrambling rush Mason put on Auckland's third goal. The second spell had not been long in progress when a penalty bully was ghen against ’Varsity, and Mason had no •fifficulty in scoring his fourth goal. University then attacked in fine style, and from a scramble in the circle Metcalfe notched ’Varsity's first goal. ’Varsity again got on a good rush, and Moore shot ’Varsity’s second goal from a difficult angle. From this till the end of the game Auckland kept up a strong attack, and Mason shot a brilliant goal from the edge of the circle. Auckland A defeated West End by eight goals to nil. The winners’ combination proved too much for the West End boys. For the winners Young scored five goals, Aiickram one. Jessup one. and Steele one. Auckland B played a drawn game with University, each team scoring two goals. TARANAKI MATCHES. NEW PLYM<JUTH. a Mond.iy. The New Plymouth team visited Stratford on Thursday and met W.Y.M.1., the latter winning by three goals to nil. Rain imide the ground very heavy, and play was not brilliant. 9 Carrington Road defeated Inglewood by three goals to nil. the scorers being I*. McEwen ami R. McAllum. The game was fast, and both teams showed good combination. CRAVEN BEAT AORANGI. WELLINGTON, Monday. Tn spite ef the wretched weather, the ladies' hockey match between teams from Craven School (Palmerston North) ami Aorangl Club (Wellington) was played at Day s Bay. The ground was little better than a quagmire, and rain fell incessantly throughout the game but the ardour of the young ladles was quite undamped, tnc play, of the visiting team was excellent. I. added live more goals to their score. The Baptisnv.C.’C. game, played on the < ollege grounds, was also spoilt by the weather. Baptists, however, through their excellent combination. succeeded In turning the tables on their opponents, beating them this time by 4 goals to 1. Eastown and St. I’aul’s teams met for the second round on the racecourse, and, as was. expected, a good game resulted, ending iu a draw, each side scoring two goals.
