HUNTING.
The Pakuranga hounds met at Papatolto! on June 1, Mr K. D. O’Rorke, master. l>eing in charge. A hare was found in Mr Jenkins’ pioperty. and gave a nice run before being lost in Mr Gillard's property. Another strong run was given by a hare found on Mr Water’s farm, which was followed through the farm of Messrs Waters. Gillard, Trimble, McLarnen, and Ciow, being lost at Trimble’s hill. When the day’s sport wns over the followers were entertained by Mr Trimble.
Saturday wns a very unfavourable day for hunting, the weather being cold nnd squally, while the ground round Sylvia I’ark, the point fixed for the meet, was so sodden that the scoria lands round Mount Smart were sulnstituted. A hare was found on Mr <'ey lan's property, and wns killed after a short run, while a second hare wns chopped without giving a run. Another bare was found shortly afterwards, ami the hounds went away nt a good pace, but a heavy rain squall obliterate*! tbe scent, nidi the party returned home. The hounds meet at I‘apatoltol Station at noon to-murrow.
