LATE SOCIETY NEWS WELLINGTON.

Dear Bee, May 18. JVe are still revelling in THEATRICAL GAIETIES, though, alas! the season is now drawing to its close. “My Lady Molly ”is as great a favourite, apparently, as “ The Country Girl,” though she had hut a short career. There were many guests at Mrs Hislop’s “AT HOME” to say farewell to Mrs Charles Cooper, .who is shortly going to Christchurch to live. The ; rooms were charmingly decorated with bowls of chrysanthemums and trails of autumn - tinted leaves, and the fine view of the harbour from the house called forth many encomiums. The hostess received in a gown of black silk grenadine with a pelerine collar of handsome lace; Miss Hislop was in pale grey voile, and Miss Joan Hislop wore white canvas cloth; Miss Robinson (who is staying with Mrs Hislop) had a blaek silk voile and a vest of Nil green silk; Mrs Charles Cooper looked well in a white cloth gown, a marabout stole, and a white toque with touches of pale blue; Mrs MaeTavish wore Parma violet crepe de ehine and a blaek chiffon toque; Miss MaeTavish, white cloth with embroidered bands of pale blue, large pale blue hat with white wings; Mrs Miles, black poplin and mauve toque; Miss Miles, white silk voile and fuchsia tinted hat; Mrs Brandon, blaek cloth tailor-made; Miss Brandon, grey tweed; Mrs Pollen, pale blue frieze and felt hat with foliage; Miss Coates, iron-grey tweed and black toque; Mrs A. Hunt, grey voile and black picture hat; Miss Ida Coleridge, black cloth with brocade collar, scarlet hat; Miss Henry, Indian red zibeline and blaek picture hat ; Miss Christina Smith, blue tailor-made with white strappings; Miss Atkinson, dark blue cloth costume, smart tricorne hat of blue felt with gold cords. THE “AT HOSTE” IN HONOUR OF MRS ADELENE IZETT was a very great success, and the talented lady and her pupils are to be congratulated. Mrs Izett is leaving us very shortly to return to her native country, America, and is taking with her Miss Rebe Richardson, who ie to go through a two years’ course of training in the United . States. Miss Richardson’s charming recitations have been quite a feature of social entertainments during the last year or two. There is a rumour that the coming session will be quite a gay one, and already there is. talk —somewhat vague—• of bulls in honour of our new Governor and bis wife. The Star Boating Club ball, which has lapsed for the last year or two, is to be revived this season,'and well managed should be quite an event, as it used to be in the past. OPHELIA.
