KNEW WHAT HE WANTED.
A man walked into a hosier’s shop ami politely addressed the shopman. "I should like to look at some black "loves, stitched with white,” he said. “Black gloves stitched with white are not fashionable now,” the shopman replied. ”1 beg your pardon,” said the polite customer. “You evidently misunderstood me. 1 said 1 should like to look at some black gloves stitched with white.” “They are no longer fashionable,” reiterated the shopman, with impatient superiority. “T find T must apologise again,” said the other. “I came in here thinking it was a hosiery establishment; T find it is a bureau of information. Perhaps I can buy a pair of gloves at the place across the street” —and out he went.
