PRIZE DISTRIBUTION, The lady prim-ipals of the Mouai £d*"* College established a happv precedent some two year* ago when thag first decided to make the distribution af prizes for scholastic work at an upen-air gathering on the Domain Cricket ground. Parents itit friends of pupils take a very keen intereat in the annual event, and regard the sports as m notable tea ture of prize-day. The many guests wf the college enjoyed n most pleasant afternoon, and *he excellent manner ib whirl' the girls went through evolutions and maze riding on bicycles, mimical drill. Maypole dancing, anil other events, evoked general admiration. Tire spirited wav in which the programme was carried out was in itself evidence of thg esprit dr corps which is a feature of the school, wnd showed that physical culture, as well as menial advancement, receives attention at the college. The Rev. W. Beatty, M.A.. who pre sen ted the school prizes to the fortunate winners, alluded to the methods, conduct and aims of the college in terms of high praise, and in the course of his remarks commented very favourably up on several essays, written by girls in the senior forms, which had been submitted to him for adjudication. As evidence of the comprehensive nature of the college routine, we may in stance the fact that a number of the pupils lately gave a very creditable rendering of a cantata, under the able conduetorship of Mr 11. Connell. The Misses Bews are supported by a particularly efficient staff nf resident and visiting teachers. Extensions have recently been made to the buildings and grounds of this popular college, and principals and pupils alike look forward to a pleasant reunion after the holidays.
