Dear Bee, December 8. 1 he terribly wet and oppressively muggy weather of lust week had its effect socially, and there has been literally nothing doing. The attendance at the Crossley concerts was exceedingly good. Here are a few of the dresses worn: Miss Ada Crossley wore an exquisite trained gown of pale primrose satin, the skirt finished with a saddle yoke ami three wide panels of jewelled lace. At the hem of the skirt were numerous foamy frills of chiffon edged with niched satin ribbon. The bodice was ent in a V shape, filled in with net and artistically draped with beautiful lace, which was drawn up from the waist to represent an Empire gown. In her hair she wore a pretty filagree jewelled ornament and some pale green ribbon. She carried a large bouquet composed of roses tied with pale green satin streamers. Mrs. Myers, handsome black silk gown, with, jetted lace trimmings, and lovely blaek and white opera eoat: Mrs. Leo. THE ATOM CLUB. On Alonday afternoon, at the Federal Club rooms, the Atom Club held their annual "At Home,” wihch proved to be most successful. court, which looked so beautifully green and tempting to play on, and the gardens, with their mass of bloom, added much to the picturesqueness of the ccene. The weather was not all that could have been desired for a garden party, as several heavy showers fell in the early part of the afternoon, which prevented a good many from being present. Several games of tennis were played during the afternoon, which were watched with interest by the non-players from the verandah and drawing-room. The Hawtrey Company paid us another visit last week, and by special request repeated “A Message from Mars” the first night, and “Another Man’s Business” the. second night, both of which drew full houses. $n Saturday afternoon the company played a local team at cricket, when the former proved victorious, making 140 runs to the local men’s 75.”
