This is an extract taken from a letter written to a friend in Auckland by a lady passing through the Taupo district: . . . “To-day we drove past the Huka Falls, and it is a most gloriously lovely sight, but nothing in comparison with a view from the bridge going over the Waikato at Taupo. Standing there, you look up the river, where the green growth narrows; then past that the lake tosses like the sea, and then the blue hills, with snowy Ruapehu at the back of them. It is the loveliest scene you can imagine. The lake is glorious, thirty miles long with foaming white horses.” My Rotorua correspondent writes: — On Friday evening, the 20th, a small impromptu Cinderella Danee was arranged iu the Assembly Hall, Rotorua, by a few of the resident ladies. Amongst those present I noticed Mrs Chas.
