LONDON, Seplember 14. in reference to ill-natured accusations that the Australian cricketers wasted time on the final day of the match against South of England, at Hastings, Darling and Trumble, interviewed by a representative of che “Sportsman,” emphatically deny the accusations. They contradict the rumours of their retirement. Darling and Trumble declare that they do not intend revisiting England, but will not abandon first-class cricket in Australia. Howell, Gregory, and .Tones also declare that they will continue to play in Australia. ENGLISH COUNTY CRICKET. The County Cricket Championship has been secured by Yorkshire, with twelve points. Sussex comes second with four points, Notts and Surrey three each, Lancashire two, and Warwickshire one, LORD HAWKE'S TEAM. LETTER OF CREDIT REFUSED. At a meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Cricket Association, held last week, some, discussion took place on the question of the inclusion of professionals in Lord Hawke’s English team to tour the colony airtl on the proposed visit of the team to Australia. It was ultimately resolved to communicate with the New Zealand Cricket Council as follows:—“The committee of this association will not agree to my (the secretary) signing the slip forwarded by you (the secretary of the council), as your first letter distinctly stated that Lord Hawke's team was to be a purely amateur one, and this association cannot see its way to forward the letter of credit asked for, as this association objects to Lord Hawke’s team playing in Australia tinless the Australian associations contribute the greater part of the net gate receipts from matches played, such contributions to be divided pro rata among the contributing associations of New Zealand.”
