Monument to the Late Professor Schmitt.
The many friends and admirers of the late Prof. Karl Schmitt will be pleased to learn that, through the efforts of several close personal friends desirous of testifying to the respect and esteem in which they held the late Conductor of the Choral Society, there has recently been erected over his last resting-place in Clevedon, Wairoa South, a handsome memorial stone of Aberdeen granite. This is mounted on a pedestal of black marble, which is again mounted on a deep plinth of white marble, the whole being surrounded by an iron railing on stone foundation, and lettered as follows: “In loving memory of Karl Gustave David Schmitt.
