Dear Bee, December 20. The concert given at Mr G. W. Williamson's studio in Byron-street last week by his pupils, and which was under the direction of Mr Williamson himself, was very well attended, and an excellent programme was effectively carried out by a long list of performers. The concert began with “A Hernande,” played by Miss Elsie Harvey. Mr Williamson, later in the evening, played a duet with Miss Lorkin. Miss Cora Fannin gave as her solo pieces Mendelssohn’s “Andante” and “Rondo Capriccioso,” and Miss Dolly Robjohns gave an effective performance of one of lladyn's sonatas. The other instrumental solos comprised a “Nocturne,” given with great taste and technical facility by Miss Jardine; “Capricante.” by Miss M. Burke, and “Albnmblatt,” by M’ss Eva Humphries. Miss Rear sang with telling effect “Why Must We Say Good-bye?”; Miss M. Roulston gave "Ruby,” with finish and fluency; and
Mr Keith Cot tenil produced a favourable impression with a sympathetic rendering of “The Vagabond.” Some of those present were: Mrs Robjohns, looking weH in a handsome biaek dress trimmed with lace; Mrs Gore, also in biaek; Mrs Fannin. Mrs Hovel!, Miss Hovell, Miss. Cotterill, and many others. Miss May London, music teacher, who is comparatively new to Napier, and her pupils gave a concert at the
Gaiety Theatre last week, for the occasion an interestmg program me, which iheludud Chopin’s ’’Valse op. 64,” played by Miss London in highly creditable fashion. Mrs Reid sang in an intelligent and eapable manner "La Serenata.” the rialin obligato to which was jdayed by Mr W. I’. Strong; Mrs Reid also contributed a “Hush Song” and “The Swallows.” Miss Elsie Smith played with much success Mosart's Sonata in A;
and later on Mix* London gave with ■*l her accustomed skill Moskowski’s "La Smrenata," and also rendered valnalble assistance as accompanist. An interest in# feature of tbs aftersoon was the performance simultaneously an two pianos of duet* by Monkowski by the Misses Dean, GiL nave. Hetley. and Pettit: and also by the Misses Baker. McKenzie. Smith, and Teychenne. Mias Flora Dickin played a piece by Greig with much charm, and, in recognition of the sppiauae which followed her performance of the task, supplemented it with a bright ■ "Hunting Song" by Gurlett. The breaking up of the “Hukarere” Maori Giris" School took place on Monday afternoon, when the prizes were distributed by the Dean of VVaiapv. and a large nantber of guests were present. Mrs Williams wore a black dress with a lace cape, a smalt black b°nnet with heliotc'fie and whit*, lowers, and two upstanding lace ends in front; Mrs Kinross White had a dark blue foulard, with a yoke of cream guipure laee and a. small black and white hat; Mrs Steadman wore a white muslin with bPick spots, white lace collar, and black hat; Mrs Donnelly had a black coat and skirt, and a velvet hat with plumes. Mrs Perry had a soft white blouse, a black skirt, and a hat ol black chiffon; Mrs Goldsmith was in brown; Miss Goldsmith wore a charming blue toilet ; Mrs W. Anderson was in heliotrope, with a blaek silk skirt, and a black hat; Mrs Wood wore soft grey silk, and a hat with pink roses; Miss Locking wore a light green blouse and a dark skirt; Mrs Bowen had a blaek and white striped blouse, a dark skirt, and a toque relieved with, pale blue flowers; Mrs Tomball, was in light muslin, and a blaek hat with feathers; Mrs James McLean were navy blue; Mrs Jarvis, black and white; Miss Begg, white muslin. The prize giving of the Boys’ and Girls’ High School took place at. the Boys’ High School on Wednesday, when Mr H. A. Cornford presented their prizes to the girls, and Mrs Cornford wv the boys. Amongst those present were: —Mrs Hovell, in dark blue, and * hat. trimmed with heliotrope flowers; Mrs Cornford, handsome black costume; Miss Gognford, dainty white muslin dress, black .hat; Mrs P, S. McLean, grey and white foulard,

Anderson, in black aad heliotrope, and black velret picture hat with white feathers; Mr. Steadman had a light muslin continue, and a black hat; Mrs Bull wore black; Mrs Geesing had a stylish blue Eten coat and skirt, aad a black hat; Mrs Krieger also wore dark blue; Mrs Bowen, blue and white blouse, dark skirt; Miss Goldsmith, dark coat and skirt, white felt hat; Miss Daisy Rutherford had a very pretty dress of blue muslin; Miss Heath wore black, and her hat was trimmed with pink; Miss Bendafl looked very dainty in white muslin, and a white hat with yellow flowers: Miss Macfarbane was in grey and
