The programme was an unusually good one, containing many choice items, which were admirably rendered. Mrs AlcConnell, of Gisborne, the soprano vocalist, simply charmed her hearers with her contributions, "The Dream of Home” (Arditi), and "Queen of Angels” (Piccolomini). Mr P. Hockley, a Christchurch' vocalist, rendered the baritone solos, “A Soldier's Song” (Afascheroni), and “Love, Could I Only Tell Thee” (Capel), both of which were well received. In keeping with a custom that has become deservedly popular of late years. Miss Millie Peak’s pupils, together with their friends, to the number of about 130, recently gathered at her invitation at Wesley Hall, Pittstreet, for a social .evening. A programme consisting of violin solos, duets, and trios, and pianoforte solos and duets by the following pupils, Misses Rosser, Lambourne, Schofield, Afarriott, Boulton, White. Muldoon, Kent, Grace, Edwards, Finlay, and Masters Ready, Martyn, McElwain, Devereux, Grace, Finlay, and Croeombe, was creditably rendered, and listened to with evident pleasure by those present. The pupils did credit to themselves and their teacher, and Miss Peak is to be congratulated on the success of the evening. Miss Lily Thorpe and Mr Edgar Walton assisted with two vocal items each, and the Rev. A. Mitchell, who was unexpectedly able to be present, favoured the audience with a song. Aliss Peak’s rendition of two movements from the famous Mendelssohn's Concerto for the Violin (andante and allegro) was most artistic, and the applause which followed, and the presentation of a handsome bouquet, gave evidence of her great popularity. Mr A. Peak assisted as accompanist. The Choral Hall was crowded last Thursday evening, the occasion being that of the annual assembly of Ml; S. ADAMS’ MUSICAL STUDENTS, to which admission was by invitation. The programme was nn excellent one. Those who eontrlbnted to the programme were the Missea
