Dr. Moore, of Napier, has been for a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs Milne, of Oamaru, are paying Auckland a visit. Mr C. Whaite, of Wellington, is on a visit to Rotorua. Dr and Mrs Bernau, of Napier, are visiting Rotorua. Mrs and Miss Roberts, of Tauranga, are still stopping at Rotorua. Mr and Mrs Foster, of Sydney, are' stopping in Auckland. Mr and Mrs Woolmer, of Waihi, are visiting- Auckland. Mr S. G. Nathan, of Auckland, has gone on a visit to Wellington. Mr Cotter, of Auckland, has been on a visit to Rotorua. Mr Dunlop, of Timaru, paid a visit to Christchurch last week. Mi- and Mrs James Burt, of Dunedin, are stopping at Rotorua. Miss Carrie Burke returned by the Zealandia from a business visit to Sydney. Mr Syme, a well-known Melbournian, with Miss Syme, was stopping at Whakarewarewa last week. Miss Townsend has returned to Wellington after her short but pleasant trip to New Plymouth. Mr and Mrs Milne, of Canterbury, are at present spending a holiday in Rotorua. Mr and Mrs Harold Bagnall left by mail boat for a honeymoon’ trip to Sydney. Mr Ormond, of Gisborne, is visiting Auckland, where he puts up at the Central Hotel. The Italian Consul at Melbourne (Mr Coyte), with Mrs Coyte, is in Auckland on a visit. Mr H. G. Walker, of London, is amongst the most, recent visitors to Rotorua. Mr and Mrs Thos. Peaeocke have returned to Auckland after a pleasant trip to Sydney. Mr Mumford and Mr Lee, of Tauranga, are at present in Auckland, at the Albert Hotel. The Misses Luks left by the mail boat for a visit to Melbourne to see the Cup run for, etc. Mr and Mrs Henrich Kohn are at present on a visit to Auckland, staying with Mr and Mrs Lionel Benjamin. Mr Donnelly, of Hawke’s Bay, is staying in Auckland for the Golf Tournament.

Martin, who has been visiting Gisborne, has returned to Miss Garrick, “Orwell,” Papanul, has returned from a long trip to Ceylon and Australia.

Mrs N. K. Cox, of Timaru, is staying in Rotorua in order to try the baths for her health.

Lady Campbell, of “Kaikora.” Hawke’s Bay, has been payinug a visit to Napier.

Mr Eichelbaum, of Wellington, was in Auckland this week, stopping at the Star Hotel.

Mr, Mrs and Miss Donald purpose visiting England in time for the Coronation.

Mr M. A. Powrie, of Christchurch, is paying the Hot Lakes a visit, stopping at the Grand Hotel.

Miss Dobson is leaving Auckland this week for Wellington, where she is to be married.

Mr and Mrs George Gamble, of New York, are on a visit to friends in Christchurch.

Mr and Mi's Henderson, of Invercargill, are staying at the Grand Hotel, Rotorua.

Mr Joseph Lloyd, of Cape Colony, is stopping at Lake House, Ohinemutu.

Mr Arthur Cowie has been visiting New Plymouth, but has now returned to Auckland.

Mr and Mrs James Wood, who have been spending the winter in Nelson, have returned to Christchurch.

Capt. Moore, of Fort Cautley, Auckland, has gone on a visit to Wellington. Mrs. Arthur Rolleston, who spent most of the winter in Sydney, has returned to Christchurch much better for the change. Mr W. J. and Mr A.. A. White, of Auckland, have been stopping at Lake House, Ohinemutu, for some days.

Colonel Webb, late of Oamaru, was entertained at supper by the officers prior to his departure for Christchurch.

Mr. and Mrs. Nelson have arrived in Napier from Blenheim, Mr. Nelson having been moved to the Survey Office, Napier. Mrs G. P. Pierce and her two daughters are leaving Auckland shortly for a trip to the Old Country. Mrs and Miss Atkinson, of Taranaki, are visiting Auckland. . Their friends will find them at the Albert Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Dawson, of England, were in Christchurch last week, but return to Auckland and Rotorua at an early date. Miss A. Biggs (New Plymouth) has gone to join the nurses’ staff in a private hospital, Symonds-street, Auckland. Miss Amy Sutton, who has been visiting her relations in Auckland and New Plymouth, has returned to her home in Dunedin. Mr and Mrs Richards, of New Plymouth, tare visiting Rotorua, stopping at the Palace. Though this is the “off” season at Rotorua, there are quite a number of people enjoying the sights and the springs.. Mi - and Mrs L. D. Nathan are expected to arrive back in Auckland by the mail steamer, which is due in the Northern capital on November 11. Colonel Pole-Penton, who left by the ’Frisco mail boat for Sydney, was banqueted by several officers of the Auckland garrison before leaving. At the conclusion of their season with Mr Dix Mons, and Madame Darto •took a holiday at Rotorua, where they put up at the Grand. Mr and Mrs Trolove, of Christchurch, are stopping in Wellington. Captain Chaytor, of Blenheim, who so distinguished himself in South Africa, is recruiting his health at Rotorua. Mr R. L. Williams, of Napier, is at present in Auckland on a visit. Colonel and Mrs Fox, who have just returned from Sydney, Bare been staying at “Flaxmere,” Hawke’s Bay. Mr Gell, the officer in charge of the Government telegraph station at Cable Bay, Nelson, proposes leaving for England shortly. Mr. and Mrs. E. Sealey, formerly of Auckland, have taken a house in Webb-street, and are. making their home in Christchurch.

Miss Nellie Gibbs has returned to Nelson after a trip to Hawera and Wellington. Her brother, Dr. Harry Gibbs, of Hawera, has also come to Nelson for a few weeks. Mr, Mrs and Miss Haines, of Auckland, were stopping at Whakarewarewa last week, as was also Captain Duder, of the same city. Messrs G. and F. Bee, of Napier, were amongst last week’s visitors to the Geyser Hotel, Whakarewarewa. Mr Chapperton, of Palmerston North, was stopping at the same popular house.

Mrs Pond, while visiting New Plymouth, was the guest of Mrs Buckleton, wife of the manager of the Bank of New Zealand, but has now returned to Auckland.

Mr de Montalk, who was hastily summoned to Auckland on account of his father’s death, has now returned to New Plymouth. Miss Monica Govett has joined the Wanganui College, and Miss Olive King that of Wellington, so both left New Plymouth last week to take up their studies.

Dr. Talbot, of Christchurch, spent a few days in Nelson recently, and visited many of his relations and friends. He and Mrs Talbot have just returned from a delightful trip to Europe. Mrs Patullo, of Tauranga, is still invalided at Rotorua as a result of the accident she unfortunately met with some time ago. Dr. and Mrs. Erwin, of Christchurch,' have been away nearly a month in the North Island, during which time the doctor assisted in getting his brother married.

Miss Manks, who for twelve yearly was in the tailoring department of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Christchurch, was presented by the staff with a silver gipsy kettle and cake tray as a wedding- present. Mr Evans made the presentation. Mr. and Miss Wilding, of Opawa 2 are visiting Rotorua, Mr. Wilding requiring rest and change. Mrs. Wilding has just spent a week at Sumner.

Miss Thomson, late Matron of the Sanatorium, Rotorua, received a second presentation before she left Rotorua, when the staff of the Sanatorium and the bath attendants gave her a handsome dressing bag as a token of their esteem for her.

Mr Alex. Gracie, of Mayfield, was entertained at a smoke concert in the Nort'hcote Hotel last week by the employees of the Chelsea Sugar Works. About 150 were present. Mr Gracie was presented with a handsomely mounted pipe, in case.

Mr. W. Wallace, the well-known Wellington football “rep.,” has left the Empire City and taken up his residence in Napier. He should be a great help to Hawke’s Bay next season should he continue to play. Mr. Wallace can also handle a bat in pretty style, and will join one of the Napier clubs forthwith.

Mr James Wilkie, of Auckland, who has left Messrs Smith and Caughey to take up an important position in Taranaki, was last week entertained at a farewell dinner at the Central Hotel. After his health had been proposed by the Chairman (Mr Geo. Higgins), Mr Julian presented him, on behalf of the subscribers, with a valuable gold lever watch suitably inscribed. Best wishes for his future welfare were expressed by Messrs Higgins, Moore, Slator, Bockacrt, and others, to which he suitably and feelingly replied. Mr Henry M. Stowell, of Hawera, who has been appointed by the Government to collect in book form the history and traditions of the Maoris, has arrived here from Wellington by way of Taupo and Rotorua. He intends being present at the tangi now proceeding at Waihou, Hokianga, over the deceased chief, Hohaia Patuone, who is a relation o£ Mr .Stowell. The photos of Maungakiekie and Cornwall Park, which appeared in our last issue, were inadvertently credited to Mr Bartlett. They were the work of Captain J. H. Boscawen, A.D.C. to His Excellency the Governor. Captain Boscawen is well known as a very clever amateur photographer.

Mr J. F. Firth, of Wellington, is on a visit to Auckland.

Miss Ethel Gibson, a daughter of CUptain and Mrs. Gibson, “Rangiruru,” Papanui, has been appointed ot> the staff of the Ladies’ College, Nelson, and has arrived there.

Sir James Prendergast, ex-Chief Justice, returned to New Zealand last week via Suez and Sydney. Sir Jariies was, it will be remembered, a rtiethber of the conference in London which considered the question of establishing a final Court of Appeal.

Miss Newman, who has been visiting her brother, Mr W. Newman, of New Plymouth, is now visiting Wellington before she returns to her home in Sydney. Miss Cooper, on her way from Wellington, paid New Plymouth a short visit, and was the guest of Mrs Goodacre, before she returned to her home in Auckland, but she is not remaining there long, as the family intend leaving shortly and making their home in Wellington.
