The “Duchess” Baths.

OPENED BY HER ROYAL HIGHNESS.

On Friday morning before proceeding to Ohinemutu, the Royal party called at the Sanatorium, where Dr. Kenny, medical officer in charge, showed the way to the new baths. At the door of the bath-ho.use Mr T. E. Donne handed the key to the Duchess, who opened the door and formally named the baths “Duchess Baths.” The party then entered and inspected the building. The pavilion is plainly but neatly decorated in Tuscan style. The main entrance leads directly into a large bathroom 56ft long by 32ft wide, with dressing-rooms on either side, specially furnished for the Royal visit. The main swimming bath measures 40ft by 20ft, and two private baths, each 16ft by 13ft. Water for the baths is supplied from the celebrated Rachael springs.
