Mr Turner, the guard who took the Royal train up to Rotorua and back, is the oldest guard in the service, and perhaps the best known and most popular railway man in New Zealand.

The floral decorations at Government House on the occasion of the reception were much admired. They were the work of Aliss Kelly, under the supervision of Lady Ranfurly. Miss Kelly also made the followinobouquets presented to the Duchess” Those presented by Miss Kidd and The Aoung Helpers’ League, also the one presented by Lady Ranfurly to the Duchess at the reception, and the bouquet and basket of flowers presented by Mrs Alfred Nathan and the Misses Aathan to the Duchess on her arrival from Rotorua.
