Mrs Hamilton, from Pates, is visiting her sister, Mrs Hawkina, of New Plymouth.

Mr and Mrs Alexander Muro, who have been lately touring the North Island in a caravan, have now returned to New Plymouth, and the former has bought a farm at Westown. Mrs Whitcombe, of New Plymouth, has returned with her daughter, Mr* Leefe, to Samoa. Judge and Mrs Denniston have returned from the South to Christchurch.

Mrs Butler (Wellington), is epending a few days at Balgownie, Wanganui, with her mother, Mrs Abbott, accompanied by her children. Mrs Cecil Kebbell (Wairarapa), is the guest of Mrs Higginson, in Wellir.gton, for a tew weeks. The Wellington Arts and Crafts Guild hold an exhibition in the Art Gallery this week, consisting of unframed sketches, wood carving, and metal repousse. The exhibition is to be opened on Wednesday afternoon with an "At Home," and promises, from the number of entries received, to be a great success.

Miss Ward, daughter of the Hon. J. G. Ward, has gained one of the three lecal musical exhibitions open to colonial candidates.

Mrs W ingate, Miss Wingate, and and Miss Florence Wingate, of "Melrose,” Otahuhu, left Auckland by the Zeaiandia on Monday on an extended trip to Europe. They will catch the Orient liner Orizaba at Sydney, and will probably be away fpr a year.

The Rev. A. D. Thomas, whose ministry- at Otipopo, Otago, has proved so popular, has accepted a call from St. James’ Presbyterian Church, Thames, Auckland. He will take up his duties in his new home early in May.

Mrs Baume (senior) has returned to Auckland after a lengthy European tour.

Mr Edward Raughan, of Lawrence P. 0., who has been transferred to Westport, was, prior to his departure, the recipient of several handsome presentations from his office companions and from the citizens.

Those popular Auckland citizens, Messrs Court Bros., were entertained by their employees last week at a complimentary social. The evening was pleasantly spent in a manner which amply testified to the excellent relations existing between the principals and those in their employ, and to the affection and esteem in which the brothers are held by all who come in contact with them.

Mr and Alfred Oldham, of Auckland, are spending a pleasant holiday in Australia.

Dr. and Mrs Hooper have left Auckland on a visit to the Old Country. Thia is the first time Dr. Hooper has left the colony since his arrival some 3S years ago.

Mrs McDonnell, of Wanganui, gave an enjoyable dance in her new residence in Wicksteed-street last week. Unfortunately the weather waa anything but pleasant; however, there were about a hundred and fifty guests present. The rooms were beautifully decorated with flowers, and the verandah was illuminated by Chinese lanterns and looked like a fairy scene. Supper was laid in the hall. Miss Barnicoat has returned to Wanganni after a short visit to Hastings.

Mrs and Miss Friend, of Wellington, are visiting Wanganui. On Tuesday the teachers of the Wanganui Girls’ College gave a delightful afternoon tea for Miss Broome, who is shortly leaving for England. Nisa Wallis, of Napier, is staying with Miss Dodshun, of Wanganui.

Mr and Mrs G. Richardson and littl* girl have returned to Westport after * pleasant visit to tba North Island.

Mr and Mias Connal have returned to Christchurch after a very pleasant month in the North Island, staying at Gisborne. Auckland, and breaking the journey at Waveriey. on the overland route from New Plymouth to Wellington. Both arc looking greatly benefited by the change. Dr. and Mrs Hargreaves have returned to Akaroa. having spent a pleasant time in Christchurch, though Dr. Hargreaves only exchanged duties with Dr. Gane, so it was not a complete holiday for him.
