The Automobile in War.

A travelling fortress capable of running at the speed of an express train over any kind of ground has been invented by E. .1. Pennington, head of a large English syndicate, which is identified with the manufacture of high-speed automobiles. It is said the British Government has placed with the inventor’s firm an order for a number of the machines, and the United States Government is also investigating' the mot.-r with the idea of adopting it for use in the artillery branch of the armv. On a level road the Pennington automobile can easily make fifty miles an hour. The machine carries armour plate protection and two rapid-fire guns. Four men find plenty of working room within the enclosure, and are in no danger of being thrown out, even when the machine is moving at a high rate of speed.
