THE HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY held their Annual Show last Thursday afternoon and evening, and although we have been having very stormy weather for some 'time past, flowers and vegetables, etc., were well represented. In the table decorations, Miss G. Fookes took first, prize, (Mrs Dockrill, the Mayor’s wife, giving a special prize of £1); Miss O. Tuke coming second. Included in the display was a clever representation of the Recreation Grounds, done by Miss Cassell. All the details, even to the swans .and boat, were carefully worked out. in flowers, with Mt. Egmont in the distance. Miss Cassell must certainly be complimented on the extreme cleverness of the design, as a better and more attractive exhibit would be difficult to see.
