VENICE AT THE ANTIPODES.

One of the most popular of English illustrated magazines recently published a pictorial article entitled “If London Mere Venice.” The object was to draw what would be the appearance of the world’s metropolis were its streets converted into canals and gondolas took the place of wheeled vehicles in its thoroughfares. One may question whether such a change would be an advantage from a utilitarian point of view, but the appearance at a first glance is certainly very attractive.
