WARD ELECTION. TO THE RATEPAYERS AND BURGESSES. Ladies and Gentlemen,— In response to the request of many Ratepayers and Burgesses in the Karangahape Ward who have approved my action in the past, I beg leave to offer myself for re-election to the City Council and respectfully ask your votes and interest. 1 am a Freeholder in your ward and have lived amongst you for many years. Your interests are mine, and I have done my best to serve you. I have done my best and will continue to do my best to keep down the Charitable Aid Rate and to enforce economy in Municipal Matters. I am In favour of improved drainage and water supply. I would favour a loan on conditions advantageous to the city. I would also favour the inauguration as speedily as possible of an Electric Tramway System with all its attendant advantages to the citizens and the public generally. 1 have devoted much time, care, and attention to the affairs of your ward and municipal business generally. 1 have ben most regular in my attendance at the meetings of the City Council and its Committees. If you are pleased to re-elect me, my best services shall continue at your disposal. Yours faithfully, JAMES JAMIESON.

QRAFTON WARD ELECTION. TO THE ELECTORS. Ladies and Gentlemen, — I am a candidate for re-elec-tion for your ward to the City Council. In the past I have served you straightforwardly and to the best of my ability. 1 have a substantial interest in the ward as a property holder and your interests and mine are identical. Should you do me the honour to re-elect me I will do my best in your interests. Briefly the chief points of my policy are: 1. Financial Reform. 2. A Better AVater Supply. 3. Better Drainage. 4. A Better Fire Brigade System. 5. Electric Lighting. 6. A Better Tramway System; and withal as light a taxation of the Ratepayers as may be. in view of the primary necessity for a better Water Supply and Drainage System, the low state of the City Finances, the City’s legal disability to run a comprehensive Tramway System outside of city boundaries, and that the lease granted by the City of the present Horse Tramways has about six years to run, I consider the municipalisation of the tramways, however desirable in Itself, nevertheless impracticable just at present. 1 therefore favour the proposals at present before the City Council, by which an up to date Electric Tramway Service, at Low Rates of Fares, and with all its Incidental advantages to the public, will be at once commenced to be introduced, Instead of otherwise waiting till the present Horse Tramways Lease of six years shall have dragged Itself out to an end. In conclusion, I respectfully request the favour of your suffrages, and remain. Yours obediently, , JAMES M. PATERSON.
