Lightlove: “At last, dear Sophia, we are alone, and 1 can tel! you that I lo ’ Sophia: “Oh. please, no. Mr Lightlove—don’t tell me here.’ Lightlove: “Why not? There are no witnesses here.” Sophia- “That’s just it.” A young widow put up a costly monument to her late husband and inscribed upon it:—“My grief is so great that I cannot l>ear it.” A year or so later, however, she married again, and feeling a little awkwardness about the inscription, she salved the difficulty by adding one word to it—“alone.”
